Updating MetaMask

It is considered good practice to keep your wallet extensions at their latest versions to ensure your wallet contents remain secure. Unfortunately there are times when the MetaMask browser extension fails to update, especially in Chrome. Use this guide to get the latest version.

Chrome

  1. Open Chrome and right click on the MetaMask fox logo in the toolbar and select “Manage Extension”. If your MetaMask extension is not in the toolbar visit: chrome://extensions/ in the address bar.
  2. Select “Details” on the MetaMask extension
  3. At the top right of the screen enable “Developer Mode”
  4. Towards the top left of the screen select “Update”. This will force the browser to update the MetaMask extension.
